There are many reasons for bursting of tempered glass cover, which can be simply summarized as follows:

1. The influence of glass quality shortcomings: the part containing stones and impurities in glass is the weak point of tempered glass and also the place where stress concentration occurs. Especially if the stone is located in the tensile stress zone of tempered glass, it is an important factor leading to bursting. Stones exist in glass and have different expansion coefficients from vitreous bodies. The stress concentration in the crack area around the stone increases exponentially after glass tempering. When the coefficient of expansion of the stone is less than that of glass, the tangential stress around the stone is in tension. Crack propagation with stone is very easy to occur.

2. Because of the defects of scratches, explosions and deep explosion edges on the surface of glass due to heating process or improper operation, it is easy to form stress concentration or lead to self-explosion of tempered glass.

In conclusion, tempered glass itself does have some self-explosion factors, but the more reason lies in the process of making tempered glass itself.
